Herbert Wang, PhD '23 research uses urban big data to improve or better understand transportation planning. He is also particularly interested in how smart city is developed, the characteristics of, and whether inclusiveness is addressed when building a smart city.

His dissertation titled “Explore Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) Services Satisfaction Using Social Media Data in the era of Urban Big Data” investigates how customers are perceiving ridesharing services like Uber and Lyft on Twitter, and what factors are impacting their satisfaction levels.
