We are UBNOMAS! We are the UB Chapter of the National Organization of Minority Architecture Northeaster division. UBNOMAS was founded in 2011 by three graduate students with avid support from the Department of Architecture and Planning. Since then, our mission has been to celebrate and appreciate underrepresented communities and provide them with the resources and opportunities to succeed. This starts with being a support system for both the graduate and undergraduate students here on our campus through professional, personal, and mental growth. We aim to build a strong chapter of design professionals whose sensibilities and interests include the promotion of urban communities, we are able to respond to the concerns that affect marginalized communities and people. Thus we develop and participate in competitions that aim to do such. As a strong community, we can build even stronger communities together!
