Architizer, an international online forum for design and architecture, has named a minimalist dining set designed by Jin Young Song, assistant professor of architecture, as one of the “Hottest Products Trending this Summer.” A dining set that folds up into a compact cube, Qube 1 can be assembled on-the-fly. Designed by Song through his architectural practice, Dioinno Architecture PLLC, the product was also awarded an Architizer A+ Award this past spring in the Products + Living category.
Qube "is a little item that exemplifies the holistic change in the way we experience our living space," according to Song. The name, Qube, captures the “cuteness” of contemporary life and describes the product's cube-shaped structure. Song says his creation offers a stark contrast to "overdesigned decorative furniture or oversized geometric modern pieces" which fail to consider the "compactness of current living style.”
