Buffalo is a center of progressive planning and design – a distinction that has much to do with our students and faculty. The School of Architecture and Planning engages the city, its buildings, landscapes, industries, and communities as labs for research, experimentation, and intervention. We are a primary contributor to the region in everything from climate-related planning to industry-applied design technologies. A community of makers, we translate knowledge into practice. This fund provides support to UB’s School of Architecture and Planning at the discretion of the Dean or his/her designee.
Typical Uses: Exhibitions, symposiums, guest hosting, materials & supplies, student opportunities, community engagement
The School of Architecture and Planning will partner with Assembly House 150 to host a summer camp intended to introduce high school students to architecture and the city. Participants will learn about the discipline and profession of architecture while gaining hands-on building skills working with tools and materials. We will also visit important buildings and landscapes in Buffalo.
Typical Uses: Site visits, materials & Supplies, student opportunities, community engagement
The semi-annual Public Programs series explores themes in Architecture and Urban Planning and is open to the public; select events offer AIA and AICP learning units. This fund supports presentations by guest speakers, featuring their experiences in the field, which allow students and faculty to engage pressing social, technological, economic, and environmental challenges in architecture and planning.
Typical Uses: Travel, accommodations, and honoraria for guest speakers, reception support for the enjoyment and networking of attendees
