During project's demolition and abatement phase, the removal of asbestos-laden brick (never identified in the building's original plans as a structural element) left the limestone building envelope unsupported and in danger of collapsing. Steel bracing, buttressing the walls from the interior and exterior, stabilized the building until new structural supports could be put in place.
