The minor in architecture provides students with a liberal exposure to the humanities, technology, the social sciences, and aesthetic expression through the lenses of the built and the natural environments.

The study of architecture offers an indispensable background for studies in most disciplines: it develops skills in critical thinking and making, and it furnishes tools for interpreting and understanding the ways in which we inhabit and shape the material world. The minor in architecture is typically completed in five to six semesters. In addition, the minor in architecture is designed to enhance and provide additional knowledge for students planning to pursue a 3+ year accredited professional MArch graduate degree upon completion of their baccalaureate studies.

The minimum required hours for minor in architecture is 21 credit hours. All students must complete a minimum of 9 credit hours and three courses in the lower division and a minimum of 12 credit hours and four courses in the upper division, with a plan of study devised in consultation with faculty mentors. Additionally, students choosing a minor in architecture must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 and must have completed two lower division (100-200) courses with a grade of 2.50 or better for admission. Students must have an overall GPA of 2.0 or better and must have an average of 2.50 or better in their architecture minor courses for successful completion.
