Alumnus Joseph Barden (BPS '86), who has helped oversee multiple projects as part the overall redevelopment of LAX and airports nationwide, joins Michael Doucette of Jacobs Engineering in a discussion of the history of the aviation, the evolution of the airport and the state of contemporary airport design and planning.

Joe Barden is an award winning, consensus building, team leader with more than 25 years of experience as a lead airport master planner, designer, and project manager with an extensive portfolio of successful architectural and planning projects at domestic and international airports. His experience includes the ACI top 20 North American Airports in all areas of aviation planning, leading the development of effective solutions to meet short- and long-term needs of predominantly large U.S. hubs with extensive experience in medium and small airports. Joe has proven success in working effectively with public and private/commercial clients. He established effective working relationships with business development groups resulting in winning exceptional volumes of planning work and leveraging planning contracts to delivering significant awards through full project delivery.
Michael Doucette is an architect and Senior Program Development Manager for Aviation at Jacobs. Over his 30 year plus career, Michael has planned, designed, and built award winning airport terminals and facilities worldwide, including projects in the United States, Europe, Asia, and Australia. Specifically and currently his domestic projects include leading as Program Manager a multi billion dollar rebuild of Chicago O'Hare Terminal Facilities and renovations and improvements at Long Beach, California. Michael also served as the Chief Architect and Deputy Executive Director for Los Angeles World Airports. He was responsible for delivering the largest public works project in the City of Los Angeles history, the new Tom Bradley International Terminal.
