“Lightly Speaking” is an installation that is the culmination of the student work and research from the 2024-25 Banham Fellowship. The project explores light timber framing as the dominant American method of construction with an emphasis on its tectonic rules. It asks how studying medium specific tendencies and internal conflicts might yield new approaches to design.
The project was developed in tandem with the spring graduate studio ARC 606, with contributions from the following students:
