Finnish architect, educator, author and critic Juhani Pallasmaa is a leading figure in contemporary architectural culture. A former director of the Museum of Finnish Architecture and Dean of the Helsinki University of Technology, he is an honorary fellow of the American Institute of Architects who has also served on the jury of the Pritzker Prize for Architecture. 

Pallasmaa is the author of numerous influential books, including "The Eyes of the Skin – Architecture and the Senses," a classic in architectural theory, and the volume of collected essays, "Encounters – Architectural Essays."
