On February 7, 2024, the School of Architecture and Planning celebrated the life and work of esteemed urban planner and professor Alfred Price with an evening event. Former colleagues and students reflected on his lasting impact on urban planning practice and education, sharing tributes and memories. During the event, Al Price's family announced the endowment of the Al Price Scholarship in his honor.

Alfred D. Price Jr., UB professor emeritus of urban planning, passed away on May 2, 2023, at the age of 75. Al Price was an associate professor in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning for over 42 years. He was a gifted and beloved teacher who engaged thousands of students with his lectures on the history of cities, urban finance, and community development. Additionally, he played a pivotal role in the School’s leadership during its early years, contributing significantly to the establishment of the Master of Urban Planning degree, expansion of the School’s faculty, and securing external support.
