In honor of Black History Month, the School of Architecture and Planning welcomes applications for the 2022 Watts Scholar. The scholarship program for UB architecture students from underrepresented groups is supported by Watts Architects & Engineers, a progressive, minority-owned architecture and engineering firm with offices in Buffalo, Syracuse, and New York City.
The 2021 senior architecture "Housing as Process" design studio focused on housing-led, mixed-use development programs that build on social capital in the community. It is the culminating studio of the BS in Architecture program, with the final review organized as a competition judged by a blind panel of jurors. The winning teams are each awarded a $2,500 prize.
"Barry Sampson: Teaching + Practice," co-edited by UB architecture professors Brian Carter and Annette LeCuyer, is a book dedicated to Canadian architect Barry Sampson and his substantial contribution to the field of architecture.

Jin Young Song, UB associate professor of architecture, has received multiple recent international honors for his research on facade systems, including an invitation to the 3rd Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism 2021 and two competition wins, one of which has earned Song a project commission.

Harold L. Cohen, Dean of the School of Architecture and Environmental Design from 1974 to 1984, died peacefully at home in Buffalo on November 2, 2021. He was 96 years old.
