Reporting Adverse Incidents

The School of Architecture and Planning is committed to fostering inclusion, equity, and justice. It is the responsibility of our entire school community to report incidents of harassment, discrimination, or mistreatment in any form.

As outlined in the UB Discrimination and Harassment Policy, retaliation against anyone who reports discrimination, participates or assists in an investigation, or opposes a discriminatory act, practice, or policy is unlawful and is prohibited. Retaliation is not tolerated and may result in a referral to the university's disciplinary process.

In Case of an Emergency

If you ever feel you are being threatened or are in danger, or you witness someone else being threatened or in danger, immediately contact the University Police at (716) 645-2222.

Reporting Unprofessional or Inappropriate Behavior

In an effort to cultivate a safe, inclusive, and collegial environment, the School of Architecture and Planning promotes the following options and resources for reporting:

Direct Reporting

  • If you do not feel comfortable addressing the concern directly with the individual, we encourage you to report any incidents to your faculty member, program director, department Chair or supervisor.
  • If you do not feel comfortable addressing the concern with your faculty member, program director, department Chair or supervisor, you may contact the Chief of Staff, Alison Stoute at arstoute@buffalo.edu.

Anonymous Reporting

  • If you do not feel comfortable addressing the concern directly, you may share your concern/feedback anonymously via this google form. The Chief of Staff will review these entries and direct the concern to the appropriate party.
  • In situations where you prefer to place an anonymous report in confidence, outside of the School of Architecture and Planning, you are encouraged to submit a report via EthicsPoint, a confidential reporting service. Reports will be sent to UB by EthicsPoint anonymously and confidentially. EthicsPoint makes these reports available only to specific individuals within the University who are charged with evaluating the report, based on the type of violation and location of the incident. Each of these report recipients has had training in keeping these reports in the utmost confidence. Visit www.buffalo.ethicspoint.com or call 844-678-0455 for more information.

Reporting Discrimination and Harassment

The University makes a clear distinction between bias-related incidents prompted by intolerant behaviors and illegal discrimination or discriminatory harassment based on protected factors including but not limited to sex, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, marital status, and veteran status. Matters of discrimination and harassment are handled by the Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion. If you believe you have been discriminated against or harassed based on a factor listed in UB's Discrimination and Harassment Policy, or if you witnessed discrimination or harassment of others, contact the Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, 406 Capen Hall, at 716-645-2266 for an appointment to report an incident. You may call the office anonymously if you would prefer not to give your name. The investigatory process is outlined in full on the EDI website.
