DESIGNING 2 BUILDINGS
The studio will focus on the design of two buildings. Those buildings will be public buildings of a significant size and complex in nature. Precedents will be scrutinized and programs developed.
DESIGNING IN 2 CITIES
Each of the two buildings will be located in a different city. The studio will be required to visit each city, explore the two locations, document and respond to surroundings defined by notable structures.
HEAVY & LIGHT
Paying attention to material qualities and meanings students will be encouraged to explore and take positions with regard to resources, construction, appearance and performance.
WITH PROFESSIONAL TIES
The studio will explore design through professional ties and collaborative work alongside experienced professionals. Andrew Berman will participate in studio conversations regularly.
Drawing and making will be significant in this studio, Design studies will focus on both big and small and integrative design pursued. Use, meaning and appearance will be scrutinized in all design proposals.
