The UB GRoW Home's second place finish in the 2015 Solar Decathlon was national news. It was UB's debut bid in the prestigious event sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy.

An article in the Buffalo News reports UB took second place Saturday in the U.S. Department of Energy’s 2015 Solar Decathlon in Irvine, California, and quotes Martha Bohm, assistant professor of architecture and lead advisor for the project, and Christopher Osterhoudt, student manager for the GRoW Home. “We couldn’t be more excited,” Bohm said. “It was a tough, tough field and this was our first time out.”

Architectural Digest online published a slide show describing a collection of highly efficient, multifunctional furniture that UB students designed for a solar house they built as part of the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon.
