BS Arch students are educated in design, construction technologies, digital arts, the humanities, social sciences, and aesthetic expression. Goals of the BS Arch include introducing architecture as a profession and a way of understanding our natural and built environments.
It allows students to complete all prerequisites for eligibility to enter a two-year accredited professional master of architecture (MArch degree) program. The University at Buffalo is the only campus in the State University of New York system to offer the accredited professional master of architecture (MArch) degree.
The pre-professional architecture degree, on its own, is useful for those who desire a foundation in the field of architecture as preparation for either continued education in an accredited professional Master of Architecture (MArch) degree program or employment options in architecture-related areas.
The four-year pre-professional bachelor of science in architecture, without the accredited first professional master of architecture degree, is not accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Read more about NAAB-accredited programs in the Department of Architecture.
Additional information on the pre-professional Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree requirements and related career opportunities can be located in the University at Buffalo Undergraduate Catalog.
