For a well-rounded real estate development education, we encourage our students to pursue internships during their course of study, and we support them in their search for employment.
Students may apply for one-time approval to get up to 3-credit hours for internships demonstrating substantial individual accomplishment as reflected in a report, study, or analysis completed for the employer. In addition, we encourage students to pursue full-time paid internships for the summer between their first and second year of study.
Our faculty and professional advisers have significant national industry relationships, and make special efforts to assist students in obtaining internships and permanent jobs. As a result, our students have had an excellent record of success in the job market.
Our students and graduates get top internships and full-time, post-graduate employment with some of the best firms there are in our industry.
Jeff Lipuma, adjunct instructor and Senior Fellow in the UB Real Estate Development Program
Employers of our students and graduates for internships and full-time, post graduate employment include the following leading firms in Baltimore, Boston, Buffalo, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Jersey City, Miami, Minneapolis, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia, Portland (ME), Rochester, Tampa, and Toronto.
These internship and jobs are varied positions across all real estate sectors and job functions, including affordable housing finance and development, asset management, portfolio management, development and construction project management, and commercial real estate lending, among others. Also, an increasing number of our students and graduates intend to pursue an entrepreneurial path, and are investing for their own account, or developing their own projects.
